DAVIDS, PA – 110 minutes of play could not decide an outcome as visiting Wilkes University and Eastern University battled to a scoreless 0-0 double overtime tie Saturday afternoon in Freedom women's soccer action. Wilkes stands 9-3-2 overall and remains unbeaten in Freedom play at 3-0-1. Eastern sees its overall mark move to 7-5-2 and 2-1-1 in league games. In a rematch of the Freedom semifinals from last season where Eastern prevailed 3-1, this game was even throughout as Wilkes was able to muster six shots while Eastern managed just nine attempts at goal. Both teams saw five shots make it on net, as each keeper was on their game. Rookie Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) made five saves, while senior Alysia Goodman finished with five stops. The scoreless tie also marks the ninth time the Lady Colonels have not allowed a goal, extending the school's single season mark which was broken last week against DeSales (4-0 win). Wilkes will return to Freedom play Tuesday with an important home matchup with Misericordia University (4-0 in Freedom play) at 4:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex. The game will also mark the “Cure4Jen” event in an effort to raise funds for Jen Liese, a friend of Lady Colonels senior forward Katy Fissel (Madison, NJ/Madison) who is battling a toxic mold sickness.
