The Lady Colonels improve to 12-4-5 while Swarthmore finishes their season at 13-6-2. The Garnets snagged an early lead when Emma Sindelar scored her sixth goal of the season just 1:29 into the game. Alicia Roberts (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) scored her ninth goal of the season on a double assist from Lyndsay Ellis (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) and Megan Binder (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon ) at the 29:36 mark. The Colonels and Garnets battled to a scoreless tie at the end of regulation and two ten minute overtime periods. In the shootout, the Lady Colonels could not miss. Brooke Edwards (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) started the trend scoring Wilkes' first goal on their first attempt. After a Sindelar make, Jana Martin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Central) picked her team up with another goal in their second attempt. After a Hayley Kay (Danville, PA/Danville) stop, Katy Fissel (Madison, NJ/Madison) scored the Lady Colonels third straight goal to lead 3-1 in the shootout. A Garnet goal, an Ashley Graham (New Hampton, NY/Minisink Valley) tally, and another Garnet score tied the shootout at 4-3 setting the stage for Erin Donnelly (Parkesburg, PA/Octorara). Donnelly's shot found the net and iced the game for the Lady Colonels giving them the 5-3 advantage. Mahoney made four stops in regulation. Hayley Kay (Danville, PA/Danville) came up big in the shootout for Wilkes. Reba Magier contributed three saves for Swarthmore. The Lady Colonels will play top seeded Stevenson University in the ECAC championship tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Swarthmore. Print Friendly Version
