WILKES SOFTBALL DROPS PAIR OF GAMES AT SUSQUEHANNA

SELINSGROVE, PA – The Wilkes University softball team held a late lead in game one only to see it slip away in a 3-2 loss then fell 12-2 in five innings in the nightcap at Susquehanna University Thursday afternoon.

Wilkes slips to 5-15 overall following the pair of losses. Susquehanna improves to 16-8 on the season.

In game one Wilkes trailed 1-0 until the seventh. The Lady Colonels scored two runs in the frame including a sacrifice fly from Mandy Seccia (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott). Alysha Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley) crossed the plate on a wild pitch to plate the other score. From there, Susquehanna placed runners on second and third with one out and used an two-run double to steal the victory in game one.

Kait Brown (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor), Jordan Borger (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley), and Dayna Finch (Milford, CT/Joseph Foran) posted two hits each to lead the Wilkes offense. Bixler went six and a third allowing seven hits and three runs (two earned) to suffer the loss in the circle.

Game two saw the host Crusaders pound out 12 hits scoring twelve runs to secure the sweep in five innings. Seccia plated both runs in the contest singling to left field in the third as Wilkes settled for just four hits through five innings.

Wilkes returns to Freedom Conference play Saturday when the Lady Colonels host cross-town rival King's College at the Ralston Athletic Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
