Wilkes moves to 10-22 overall, while Scranton stands 23-5 on the season. Bixler was nearly unhittable in game two tossing seven scoreless innings allowing just four hits throughout while striking out two. She also provided the power at the plate connecting on her fifth home run of the season, a three-run shot to straight away center field in a four-run fifth inning. In game one, Wilkes led 1-0 early as Mandy Seccia (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) singled and later scored on a Jordan Borger (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) base hit and Scranton throwing error. The Lady Royals then answered with a seven-run third inning and made the score hold through the final four frames to claim the victory. Borger led the offense in game two going 2-for-3. Laykin Hughes (Minersville, PA/Pottsville), Kait Brown (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor), and Jessalyn Paveletz (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) each added a hit. Hughes suffered the loss in the circle going all seven innings scattering seven hits allowing seven runs while striking out six batters. Wilkes will conclude its Freedom slate Saturday with a matchup at Delaware Valley College at 1:00 p.m. in Doylestown, Pa. Print Friendly Version
