Wilkes concludes its season at 10-24 overall and 2-12 in league play. Delaware Valley improves to 16-17 overall and 6-8 in Freedom contests. Delaware Valley kept a 2-0 lead through five innings of play in game one thanks to solo home runs from Jackie Wear in the first and Sarah Lazar in the fourth. The Lady Colonels cut the deficit in half in the sixth when Jessalyn Paveletz (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) singled home Kait Brown (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) following a lead-off walk. Emily McGrath (Upper Darby, PA/Drexel Hill) followed with a double to put two in scoring position, but a strikeout ended the Wilkes rally. A two-out double from Mandy Seccia (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) in the seventh put the tying run in scoring position again, but Laykin Hughes (Minersville, PA/Pottsville) grounded out to shortstop to end the contest. Paveletz led the Wilkes offense in game one going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Seccia, Hughes, Brown, and McGrath each added a hit. Hughes suffered the defeat in the circle going all six innings allowing two runs on five hits striking out seven batters. She finishes her rookie campaign with 118 strikeouts over 98 innings pitched. In game two, Delaware Valley scored three runs in the first and exploded for seven more runs in a three-hit third inning on way to a 10-1 win in five innings. The lone Wilkes run came on an RBI sacrifice fly from Jordan Borger (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) scoring Brown who singled earlier in the inning. Alysha Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley) went three innings allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on six hits to record the loss in the circle. Heather Compton (Easton, PA/Easton) pitched on scoreless inning in relief of Bixler. McGrath led the offense finishing 2-for3 in game two as the lady Colonels managed five hits throughout.
