Five From Wilkes Softball Named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators

WILKES-BARRE – Five student-athletes from the Wilkes University softball team have been named to the 2026 Academic All-District® Softball Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.

Olivia Dougher (Scranton, PA/West Scranton), Maddy Maloney (Scranton, PA/Lackawanna College), Mia Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton), Allyson Stafursky (Eynon, PA/Valley View) and Tessa Stafursky (Eynon, PA/Valley View) all earned the honor, with two first-time honorees.

To be chosen to the 2026 Academic All-District® Team, a student-athlete had to have been at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and have competed in 90 percent of the team's games or started in at least 66 percent. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

Dougher earned her third Academic All-District® selection in her senior season, as the Scranton native posted a 3.88 GPA majoring in middle level education and held down third base in all 42 games this season for the navy and gold.

Maloney joined her fellow senior on the team with her second-career Academic All-District® honor, as she earned a 3.67 GPA and completed her degree in sports management. Like Dougher, Maloney started all 42 games for the Colonels at shortstop this season and was named an All-Landmark Honorable Mention for her play.

Junior Mia Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) also made her second appearance on the Academic All-District® team, finishing the year with a 3.82 GPA majoring in criminology. Butka started all 42 games for the Colonels either in the circle or at second base, earning her third-career All-Landmark selection.

The Stafursky sisters Allyson and Tessa earned their first Academic All-District® nods in their first year of eligibility, posting GPAs of 3.70 and 3.65 respectively. Allyson, a nursing major, started all 42 games for the Colonels, while Tessa pitched 35.1 innings while majoring in psychology.
