In the 1st singles flight, Wilkes' Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) scored a 6-4, 6-1 win over Moravian's John Wylie in the quarterfinals to setup a date with Tim McGurrin of Scranton tomorrow in the semis. Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central) and Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield) each fell in their quarterfinal matches, but will have a match tomorrow in the consolation round of the first flight. At the 2nd flight, both Connor Peckham (Warminster, PA/Central Bucks East) and Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) cruised to wins in quarterfinal play. Peckham was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Evan Bolus of Marywood while Appello defeated Brian Welsko of Moravian 6-0, 6-0. Both move onto semifinal play tomorrow. In the 3rd singles flight, Brandon Helfrich (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia), Clarke Freeman (York, PA/Central York) and Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North) all posted wins in straight sets to move onto semifinal play Sunday. Helfrich was a 6-4, 6-4 winner while Freeman scored a 6-1, 6-0 victory and Blachowski a 6-1, 6-1 win. In doubles play, the team of Kranz/Peckham will face Joe Morra and Mike Pannone of Scranton in the finals of flight one after posting an 8-4 win over Moravian's duo of Wylie/Tuorto in the semis. At second doubles, it will be an all-Wilkes final as Appello/Daniel Hackford (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) and Blachowski/Freeman both were winners in the semis, 8-6 and 8-3 respectively.
