Wilkes moves to 6-2-1 overall while Susquehanna stands 3-4-1 on the year. Wilkes got things started early in the first half with a header by Katy Fissel (Madison, NJ/Madison) that found the left side of the net just 20 seconds into the game. Brooke Edwards (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) took the ball down the right side of the field and crossed a perfect pass to the middle of the field where Fissel executed the goal. In the 40th minute Wilkes found the net again. This time a scuffle of players were in the box scrambling for the ball when Katie Cocchi (Morris Plains, NJ/Parsipany Hills) got the best of the Crusader defense by adding another tally on the scoreboard for Wilkes. In the second half, the Lady Colonels scored on another impressive header. A direct kick by Lyndsay Ellis (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) found Erin Donnelley who executed the header into the back of the net. Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) had five saves in goal for the Lady Colonels and Cameron Weaver had seven stops in goal for Susquehanna. Wilkes returns to the field Saturday hosting Delaware Valley College in its Freedom Conference opener at the Ralston Athletic Complex at 11:00 a.m. Print Friendly Version
