WILKES VOLLEYBALL TAKES TWO AT ST. JOSEPH'S TOURNAMENT FRIDAY


PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Wilkes University volleyball team collected a pair of wins Friday night on day one of the St. Joseph's College tournament.

Wilkes posted a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-13) win over Farmingdale State in its first match of the day before sweeping Freedom foe Manhattanville College 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 26-24) in the nightcap.

In the win over Farmingdale State, Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) led the way with 12 kills and two solo blocks. Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) followed with nine kills and two service aces. Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) led the passing game with a match-high 24 assists, while libero Marissa Mallory (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) finished with 13 digs.

In the non-conference tilt against the Valiants, Bohan contributed a team-high eight kills while Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) (6), Trusty (5) and Kelsey Yacko (Shamokin, PA/Shamokin) (5) combined for 16 kills in the victory. Powers assisted on 26 of the 30 Wilkes kills and Vicki Yakobosky (Auburn/Nativity BVM) led the backline with 13 digs.

Wilkes concludes the tournament with a 12:00 p.m. matchup with host St. Joseph and a 2:00 p.m. match against Ramapo College.
