The victory sees the Lady Colonels record increase to 8-4-3 (3-0-1 Freedom Conference) while DeSales falls to 6-6-3 (0-3-1 Freedom Conference). Wilkes wasted very little time getting on the scoring sheet as Freshman Samantha Hockley (Middletown, PA/Lower Dauphin) tallied her seventh goal of the season in the 6th minute. Hockley was able to pick up a loose ball and slot a shot past the goalkeeper into a wide open net to put the Lady Colonels up 1-0. Wilkes outshot DeSales 6-1 and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks for the first half. The Lady Colonels added an insurance goal in the 68th minute when DeSales goalkeeper Michelle Churchman had the ball slip thru her hands and Dianna Connor (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) instinctively was able to follow up the play and tap the ball into a wide open net for her fourth goal of the year. Wilkes outshot DeSales 10-3 and out cornered them 6-0 for the match. Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) picked up her fourth shutout of the season while making two saves in net.
