With the win Wilkes improves to 6-3-2 (1-0) while Eastern drops to 2-7-1 (0-1). The first half was played between the two 18-yard boxes with both teams struggling to find their offensive rhythm. Wilkes outshot Eastern eight to three but was unable to sneak any past the Eagles goalkeeper. Eastern held a 1-0 advantage in corners for the first half. Wilkes opened the second half with a sense of urgency and the energy was lifted from the first half sparking the Lady Colonels and allowing them to be more dangerous than in the first half. In the 74th minute the Lady Colonels work rate proved beneficial when Haley Adam (Brookeville, MD/Sherwood) was able to re-direct a corner kick that hit the back post in behind the Eagles goalkeeper. Courtney Krasnomowitz (Hamburg, NJ/Wallkill Valley) sent a high arcing corner kick off the far post and the deflection found Adam's who was able to outwork her defender and put Wilkes up 1-0. The goal would hold up as Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) picked up her second shutout of the season. Mahoney made three saves in the match. The Lady Colonels outshout the Eagles 14-6 for the match. The Lady Colonels return to action on Wednesday when they host Rowan University in their "Pink Day" game.
