EDWARDSVILLE – Visiting Rowan University made an early first half goal stand en route to a 1-0 win over Wilkes University Wednesday night at Schmidt Stadium.

Wilkes falls to 6-4-2 overall following the defeat while Rowan improves to 12-1 on the year.

Rowan grabbed a 1-0 lead with 17:32 on the first half clock when Victoria Camera scored off a corner from Dayna Sakalasky.

Wilkes had limited offensive opportunities in the second half as Rowan played solid defensive to escape with the 1-0 non-league win.

Rowan held a slim 8-7 shot advantage, garnering four corner kicks to Wilkes' three attempts.

Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) allowed the lone goal in the game playing the first half in net for Wilkes. Kristy Colangelo (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea) entered in relief in the second frame making two saves in 45 minutes of action.

Wilkes returns to Freedom Conference action Saturday hosting FDU-Florham at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
