WILKES MEN'S TENNIS RECORDS 8-1 WIN AT MORAVIAN

BETHLEHEM, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team swept all six singles flights and two of three in doubles play on way to an 8-1 win at Moravian College Sunday afternoon.

Wilkes moves to 4-2 overall on the season while Moravian drops to 4-5 on the year.

After the hosts took No. 1 doubles, Wilkes stormed back claiming wins in both No. 2 and No. 3 pairs. Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central) and Connor Peckham (Warminster, PA/Central Bucks East) earned a 9-7 win at No. 2 followed by an 8-1 victory by the duo of Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North) and Clarke Freeman (York, PA/Central York).

From there the Colonels swept all six singles flights, earning straight set wins in four of the six matches. Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield) (No. 1), Kranz (No 2), Peckham (No. 3) Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) (No. 4), Blachowski (No. 5), and Brandon Helfrich (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) (No. 6) completed the sweep in singles play in the Wilkes lineup.

Wilkes has a quick turnaround traveling to Division II Bloomsburg University Monday for a match at 3:30 p.m.
