WILKES MEN'S TENNIS FALLS 6-3 AGAINST EMORY AND HENRY

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Wilkes University men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Emory and Henry College Thursday in a match that was suspended Tuesday due to darkness.

Wilkes slips to 2-2 overall on the year, while Emory and Henry improves to 5-1 on the season.

Wilkes took one of three doubles flights as the duo of Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield) and Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) claimed an 8-5 win over Matt Nelson and Adam Henderson at No. 1 pairs.

The Wasps captured wins in four of the six singles flights including victories at the top three positions. Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) and Brandon Helfrich (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) were the two line singles winners for the Colonels. Appello (No. 4) took his match 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) while Helfrich was victorious in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6.

Wilkes concludes its spring break trip schedule Friday with a match against John Carroll University at 8:30 a.m.
