WILKES MEN'S TENNIS REMAINS PERFECT IN FREEDOM PLAY WITH 6-0 WIN AT FDU-FLORHAM

MADISON, NJ – The Wilkes University men's tennis team captured three doubles flights before collecting three straight set singles wins on way to a 6-0 win over FDU-Florham Wednesday afternoon. The final three singles matches went unfinished due to the heavy rain that swept through the East Coast.

Wilkes moves to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in Freedom play, while FDU-Florham drops to 2-9 overall and 1-1 in league matches.

The Colonels opened with a 3-0 lead after doubles competition allowing just five total points through the three matches. At No. 1 singles, Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner while Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central) captured No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 straight set victory. Brandon Helfrich (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) rounded out the Wilkes finishers with a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 6. No. 2, 4, and 5 singles went unfinished with Wilkes leading in all three at the time of completion.

Wilkes continues Freedom play Saturday hosting Arcadia University at 1:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
