WILKES MEN'S TENNIS EDGES MARYWOOD, 7-2

SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team swept all three doubles flights before posting wins in four of six singles matches on way to a 7-2 win at Marywood University on Sunday afternoon.

Wilkes moves to 5-2 overall following the win while Marywood falls to 8-4 on the year.

After opening a 3-0 lead in doubles competition, Wilkes grabbed four singles victories to post the non-league decision. Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) was a straight set 6-4, 6-2 winner at No. 1 while Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield) posted a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 2.

Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) took a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 followed by straight set wins from Connor Peckham (Warminster, PA/Central Bucks East) (No. 5) and Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North) (No. 6) to round out the Colonels single winners.

Wilkes returns to Freedom play Tuesday with a road matchup at FDU-Florham at 3:30 p.m.
