WILKES MEN'S TENNIS BLANKS LYCOMING 9-0

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team blanked visiting Lycoming College 9-0 Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference dual match at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

Wilkes picks up its first dual win of the year standing 1-0.

Brian Murray (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein) played in the top spot for Wilkes claiming a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Bryce Jones. Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) scored a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 over Joe Rudderow. Artyom Nabokin (Danvers, MA/Danvers) claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 over Joe Amento.

Collin Strunk (Blakeslee, PA/Pocono Mountain West) and Throy Austero (Maywood, NJ/Ridgefield Park) both went on to clinch straight set wins at No. 4 and 5 respectively for Wilkes before a Lycoming forfeit at No. 6 singles.

Wilkes began the match with a pair of doubles victories at No. 1 and No. 2 while garnering a forfeit win at No. 3 pairs.

Wilkes hosts SUNY Oneonta on Thursday, October 9 at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
