WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER SELECTED TO ECAC SOUTH TOURNAMENT; TRAVEL TO MUHLENBERG WEDNESDAY

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's soccer team was rewarded for its tough schedule and success this season with an ECAC South Tournament bid announced late Monday afternoon.

Wilkes earned the sixth seed in the eight-team field, with the top four seeds hosting first round games on Wednesday and the highest remaining seeds hosting the semifinals and final Saturday and Sunday.

Wilkes will travel to the third seed Muhlenberg College Wednesday for a first round matchup at 6:00 p.m. in Allentown, Pa.

The Lady Colonels finished the 2014 season with an 11-8 overall mark narrowing missing the Freedom Conference Tournament after winning its final three games of the regular season. Wilkes reached the championship game of the ECAC Tournament two years ago falling to Stevenson University in the finals.

Muhlenberg (11-6-2) finished fourth in the Centennial Conference in the regular season and lost in the first round of the conference tournament to eventual champion Swarthmore.

The two teams met back in the last weekend of August in both teams' season opener with the Mules taking a 1-0 victory on a corner kick goal.

Seeding for the tournament is as follows:

No. 1 Lebanon Valley hosts No. 8 Waynesburg
No. 2 Arcadia hosts No. 7 Wesley
No. 3 Muhlenberg hosts No. 6 Wilkes
No. 4 DeSales hosts No. 5 McDaniel
