LADY COLONELS SOFTBALL SPLITS ON THE ROAD AT DELAWARE VALLEY
DOYLESTOWN, PA – The Lady Colonels and Delaware Valley Aggies split a pair of games in Freedom Conference play Saturday afternoon.  Delaware Valley won game one 3-1 with Wilkes taking the second game 6-5.

Wilkes picks up their first win of the season improving to (1-7, 1-3) while Delaware Valley stands at (2-8, 1-1).

In game one Delaware Valley's Alexi Boucher (1-4) stymied the Lady Colonels at the plate.  The junior pitched a complete game allowing just one run on four hits.  She walked one and fanned four while notching her first win of the season.  Makenna Rushannon (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) and Jordan Borger (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) each had two hits for Wilkes.  Meghan Kisela (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Blue Mountain) (0-3) took the loss for Wilkes in the circle.  Kisela pitched five innings allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out six Aggies.  Delaware Valley used a three run fourth to propel them to victory. 

In game two of the twin bill Wilkes fought off an early 3-0 deficit as they built a 6-3 lead through the middle innings and held on late for the 6-5 win.  Delaware Valley's Jackie Wear blasted a three run homerun her second of the season to put the Aggies up 3-0 in the bottom of the first.  Wilkes responded with a three run homerun of their own in the top of the 3rd when Alysha Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley) connected on her second homerun of the season. 

Lacey Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley) doubled in the top of the 4th inning and advanced to third on Haylie Phillips (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) single.  With two outs in the inning Mandy Seccia (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) came up with a clutch two RBI single to left that gave Wilkes a 5-3 lead.  Lacey Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley) knocked in Ally Hoops for an important insurance run in the top of the 5th inning to extend the Lady Colonels lead to 6-3.  In the bottom of the 6th  Loran Mihaliak singled to left plating two Aggies to cut the lead to 6-5.  With one out the Aggies had runners on second and third when Mihaliak was picked off third base and Wilkes Haylie Phillips (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) was able to get a groundball to end the inning.  Phillips picked up her first win of the year as she went seven innings allowing five runs and six hits while striking out three. 

Wilkes returns to action tomorrow at the Ralston Athletics Complex when they take on New Paltz in a non-conference doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
