WILKES MEN'S TENNIS GOES 2-0 ON DAY TWO OF SPRING BREAK TRIP

HILTON HEAD, SC – The Wilkes University men's tennis team swept a pair of matches Tuesday on day two of its annual spring break trip. The Colonels upended Roanoke College 8-1 before posting a 5-4 win over Ashford University in its nightcap match.

Wilkes moves to 5-0 following the pair of victories.

Wilkes swept singles play against the Maroons as Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta), Dominic Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy), Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central), Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) and Jacob Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) all claimed straight set wins. Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) went 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 1 singles to preserve the sweep.

In doubles competition, the Parfianowicz brothers took No. 1 pairs 8-6 and Kranz/Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North) scored an 8-6 victory at No. 3.

After winning two of three in doubles play in a tight match against Ashford, Wilson posted a 6-1, 2-6, 10-4 victory at No. 1 singles followed by a Kranz 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2. Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) clinched the match with a 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 win at No. 5 to keep Wilkes unbeaten on the year.

Wilkes faces Brevard College Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in its final match of the trip before returning to Wilkes-Barre.
