The Lady Colonels claimed game one 4-1 before posting a 4-0 shutout victory in game two. Wilkes moves to 12-24 overall following the sweep. Wilkes scored four runs in game one with three coming in the deciding fifth inning. Alex Hoops (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) connected on an RBI single to center field followed by another RBI single from Lacey Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley). Katie Brown (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) later scored to cap off the frame when a failed Marywood pick-off attempt led to Brown crossing the plate. Alysha Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley) and Jordan Borger (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) led the Wilkes offense in game one each finishing 2-for-4 at the plate. Haylie Phillips (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) recorded the win in the circle going all seven innings allowing just the one run on ten hits striking out a season-high six batters.Wilkes jumped out to a 3-0 lead in game two as Brooke Limeberry (Easton, PA/Easton) provided the offense with a two-run single down the right field line in the second inning. Meghan Kisela (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Blue Mountain) added an RBI single in the third and Makenna Rushannon (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) singled home Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) in the sixth for some extra insurance. The Lady Colonels received a strong pitching performance from Kisela in game two as the rookie went all seven innings scattering four hits in the shutout victory. Wilkes concludes its 2014 campaign Monday night hosting Baptist Bible College at 6:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.Print Friendly Version
