EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's and women's tennis teams begin their journeys for a seventh and eighth Freedom Conference championship respectively on Thursday.

The Colonel men will host fourth seeded Stevenson University at 5:00 p.m. and the Lady Colonels will welcome fourth seeded Eastern University at 3:00 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

The men enter with a 16-1 overall record, their only blemish coming in a loss at nationally ranked New York University in mid-April. Wilkes cruised through its Freedom Conference regular season slate winning every match by scores of 9-0.

Rookie Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) leads the list of Wilkes singles players with a 24-3 mark from No. 5. Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) owns a 20-5 record in the Colonels top spot in the lineup, while Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) stands 19-5 from No. 2.

In doubles play, the brother tandem of Jacob and Dominic Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) boast a 19-4 mark playing No. 1 pairs this season.

The Wilkes women's team enters the tournament with a 16-2 overall record going a perfect 6-0 in Freedom Conference play this year.

Reigning Freedom Conference tournament MVP Ally Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) tops the Wilkes singles players with a 15-5 record from the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Rookie Kendra Croker (Old Forge, PA/Scranton Prep) has been impressive in her first season finishing 16-4 during the season at No. 2.

The doubles team of Croker and Taylor Hoffmann (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Lower Moreland) own a 13-2 record at No. 2 to top the Wilkes pairs play this season.
