WILKES MEN'S TENNIS IMPROVES TO 11-0 WITH VICTORY OVER KING'S

EDWARDSVILLE – In a match of the two top teams in the Freedom Conference, the Wilkes University men's tennis had little trouble posting a 9-0 shutout victory over cross-town rival King's College Tuesday afternoon at the Kirby Park courts.

Wilkes improves to 11-0 overall and a perfect 4-0 in league matches. King's slips to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in conference contests.

Wilkes took a 3-0 lead after doubles play thanks to wins from the duo of Jacob and Dominic Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) at No. 1 (8-6), Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) and Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield) at No. 2 (8-3) and Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central) and Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North) at No. 3 (3-0).

The Colonels then swept through singles flights winning all but one match in straight sets. Wilson, Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta), Kranz, Dominic Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy), Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) and Blachowski all recorded singles wins for Wilkes.

Wilkes travels to Stevenson University Saturday for a match at 12:00 p.m.
