Wilkes Women's Soccer Set for MAC Freedom Semifinal at Misericordia
WILKES-BARRE – Fresh off its 2-1 double overtime postseason clinching win at Manhattanville, the Wilkes University women's soccer team earned the fourth seed and will travel to local rival and top seed Misericordia University for a MAC Freedom semifinal Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Dallas, Pa.

Wilkes enters the match with a 6-10-2 overall record finishing the 2015 MAC Freedom season with a 3-3-1 mark on way to the fourth seed in this year's postseason tournament.
Misericordia, the reigning MAC Freedom champions, enters the match as the top overall seed going 15-3-1 overall and a perfect 7-0 in league matches. Misericordia defeated DeSales, the second seed in the upcoming tournament, 3-1 last Saturday to clinch the top seed and remain unbeaten in league play.
The teams met earlier this season in mid-October as Misericordia held onto a 1-0 win in Dallas, Pa. A Cougar goal in the 31
st minute of the match proved to be the difference in a tightly contested affair.
Micaela Oliverio (Carlisle, PA/Trinity) and
Nicolette Towlen (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) have paced the Lady Colonels offense this season each recording ten points on the year. Oliverio has posted five goals while Towlen has recorded three goals and a team-high four assists. Goalie
Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) has anchored the Wilkes backline posting a 1.09 goals against average with 95 saves and five shutouts in 18 matches in net.
Misericordia features a balanced scoring attack with five players in double figures in points. Alex Gallagher tops the list with 31 points on 11 goals and nine assists. Jacqueline Stevens adds 13 points on five goals and three assists, while Kylen Smith and Ashley Edgell each contribute with 12 points. Misericordia keeper Maureen Ciccostanti boasts a 0.82 GAA with 32 saves in 19 matches in net.
The winner of the semifinal will move onto the MAC Freedom Championship playing the winner of No. 2 DeSales or No. 3 King's College on Saturday. If Wilkes wins, the Lady Colonels would remain on the road for the title game.
