With the loss Wilkes falls to 6-8 overall on the season while Scranton improves its mark to 6-8. Wilkes took its first and only lead of the game in the second inning scoring two runs on Tom Ring (Massapequa Park, NY/St. John the Baptist)'s ringle and Jeff Roedell (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge)'s base hit scoring Stephen Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) and Matthew Reese (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro). From there, Scranton used four hits and two Wilkes errors to score six runs in the top of the third putting the game out of the reach of the Colonels who scored just two more times in the final seven innings of play on a Ruch two-run blast to left field. Wilkes used five pitchers throughout with James Zajac (Windham, PA/Northeast Bradford) receiving the loss on the hill in relief. Roedell led the Wilkes bats with two hits while Ruch accounted for two RBI's on the long ball in the third. Wilkes travels to Eastern University tomorrow (Tuesday) for a single nine-inning game against the Eagles at 2:00 p.m. to conclude its season series.Print Friendly Version
