WILKES-BARRE, PA – Wilkes picked up a key 8-1 Freedom Conference victory over their rivals King's on Sunday afternoon.
 
Johnny Jan Jr. (Germantown, MD/Northwest) notched his second win of the season for the Colonels allowing just one run in six innings pitched as the Colonels collected their 13th win of the season improving to 8-4 in the Freedom.  King's falls to 4-15 overall and 0-9 in the Freedom.
 
Colonels got things started in the top of the 1st with Stephen Ruch (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) lacing a RBI single to center and Matthew Reese (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) launching a sac fly to right to give them a 2-0 lead.  King's chipped back in the bottom of the first with a run of their own, to make it 2-1 Wilkes after one. 
 
Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) singled to center in the 2nd to regain a two run advantage for the Colonels, a lead in which they would not relinquish.  Wilkes added two runs in the 6th on a Jarret Clymer (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) double to center and a James Brown (Covington, PA/North Pocono) sac fly to center. 
 
Up 5-1 and in the top of the 8th the Colonels put the game away with three runs in the inning to make it 8-1 with just one inning remaining in the game.  Pisanchyn hit a RBI single, Clymer scored on a passed ball and Reese hit a RBI single to center for the final run of the game.
 
The Colonels pounded out 12 hits on the afternoon with Pisanchyn paving the way with a 3-for-4 performance.  Clymer added a pair of hits, and three runs scored while Reese pitched in with two hits and two RBI's.  Joshua Slocum (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) added two hits in the game and a run scored.
 
Wilkes returns to action tomorrow when they host Baptist Bible College in a non-conference single 9 inning game starting at 4:00 p.m.
