Baseball Defeats Marywood on the Road 4-2

SCRANTON, PA – The Colonels scored four runs in the 5th and held the Pacers to just two runs as they snapped a six-game losing skid on Monday afternoon in a 9-inning non-conference game.

Wilkes improves to 17-20 overall while Marywood falls to 18-8.

Joshua Slocum (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) hit an RBI double in the 4th to score Joe Champi (Dupont, PA/Pittston) with the first run of the game.  Jarret Clymer (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) hit an RBI groundout to second base scoring Slocum on the play and James Brown (Covington, PA/North Pocono) provided the final offense of the inning with a two RBI triple down the right field line scoring Bobby Schappell (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) and Zak Berg (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood).

Marywood scored two runs in the bottom of the 5th to cut the lead in half at 4-2 but would get no closer as Matt Kaster (Traben-Trabach, Germany/Crestwood), Tyler Piccotti (Taylor, PA/Riverside) and Tom Ring (Massapequa Park, NY/St. John the Baptist) allowed just three hits while striking out seven in nine innings.

Brown and Slocum picked up a pair of hits while Dan Pisanchyn (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights), Tanner Smith (Upper Black Eddy, PA/Palisades), and Champi all added hits.  Piccotti picked up his first win of the season and Ring collected his first save of the season.

Wilkes concludes their season tomorrow afternoon with a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game at the University of Scranton.
