Rea, Grossmann Capture Titles as Nine Different Colonels Finish in Top Four at Will Abele
COLLEGEVILLE, PA –
Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) and
Matthew Grossmann (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) each won titles leading nine Colonels who finished in the top four at the Will Abele Tournament Saturday afternoon hosted by Ursinus College.

Rea went 3-0 during his title run at 125-pounds collecting his 110
th career win in the process. After a bye in the first round, Rea scored an 18-3 technical fall against Manuel Canfijin before another technical fall against Matt Moy of Case Western Reserve in the semifinals. In the finals bout, Rea posted an 8-6 decision over Jacob Frisch of Case Western Reserve to capture the championship.
Grossmann finished 4-0 during his title run at 141-pounds including three falls along with way dominating his opponents. He began the day with a fall in 4:17 in the first round followed by another fall in 3:12 in round two. Grossmann earned a 12-5 decision over Richard Dennison of Oneonta in the semifinals before finishing his tournament with a fall over teammate
Cory Fleming (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris) in the finals. It marked the second career Will Able tournament championship for Grossmann who won the 133-pound class as a freshman. Fleming used a major decision and 7-3 decision to reach the semifinals before posting a 10-7 decision to setup an automatic champion for the Colonels.
Pankil Chander (Cedarhurst, NY/Lawrence) finished second at 133-pounds. Chander used back-to-back technical falls to reach the semifinals where he wrestled to a 7-5 decision over Kevin Knox of Oneonta to reach the final bout. There Chander fell to Austin Sisco of Oneonta by way of fall to settle for runner up.
Kyle Medrow (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson) finished in third place at 149-pounds. He opened with a 17-0 technical fall in the first round before falling in round two. Medrow then wrestled back to earn a spot in the third place bout where he scored an 18-0 dominating win over Isaac Collier of Case Western Reserve.
Nicholas Racanelli (West Creek, NJ/Southern Regional) took home second place at 157-pounds. Racanelli used two extra point victories to move into the quarterfinals before winning 6-4 to reach the semis. There he advanced to the finals when his opponent fell with an injury. In the finals Racanelli had to settle for runner up after suffering an injury against Derek Arnold of Ursinus.
John Ritter (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) was a third place finisher in the class falling to Arnold in the semifinals before taking an 11-4 decision in the third place bout.
At 165-pounds,
Michael Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) secured third place in the class. Paskas began the day with a fall and major decision before falling 3-1 in the semifinals. Paskas wrapped up his day with a 16-9 win over Oneonta's Thomas Marrone in the third place bout.
Ricky Fornacairi rounded out the Colonel finishers taking fourth at 174-pounds.
Wilkes returns to the mat next Saturday competing in the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Messiah College in Grantham, Pa.
