Wilkes Basketball Set to Open MAC Freedom Play at FDU-Florham Wednesday
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams will travel to FDU-Florham on Wednesday for each team's respective 2018 opener in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play.

The Colonels enter their conference opener with a 7-4 overall record after going 1-1 at the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Fl., closing the trip strong with a 97-74 win over Norwich University on Friday afternoon.
Wilkes is led by sophomore
Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields), who is averaging 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists-per-game this season on 48 percent (53-111) shooting from the floor, including 43 percent (30-70) from three-point range. Pecorelli currently ranks third in the MAC Freedom in scoring, third in three-point field goals made, third in three-point percentage, and third in field goal percentage while sitting tenth in assists and top-20 in rebounding. Marcus Robinson (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional)'s 15.2 points (fourth), 6.1 rebounds (10
th), and 41 percent (53-131) shooting from floor. Sophomore
Mark Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) rounds out Wilkes' top trio, averaging 13.5 points (eighth), 7.0 rebounds (sixth), and 2.1 assists (13
th) while shooting 45 percent (35-78) from the floor.
The Colonels are averaging 79.6 points-per-game while allowing opposing teams to score 69.8 ppg.
FDU-Florham enters this week's conference contest with an 0-11 overall record after going 0-2 at the Music City Classic in Gallatin, TN last week.
The Devils are led by junior Darren Davy, who is averaging 14.3 points and 7.7 rebounds while shooting 58 percent (64-111) on field goal attempts. FDU-Florham is also led by junior Anthony Mitchell's 10.1 ppg and sophomore Rajaan Dixon's 8.7 ppg and 6.2 rpg.
The Devils are averaging 68.8 ppg while opponents are averaging 85.7 ppg.
The Lady Colonels enter this season's conference opener with a 3-6 overall record after falling to then-No. 25 Juniata College 77-44 back on December 9
th.
Wilkes is led by sophomore
Alyssa Alfano (Dunmore, PA/Holy Cross), who is averaging 10.6 ppg, which ranks 12
th in the MAC Freedom, while also averaging 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists, with the latter ranking tied for seventh with teammate
Emily Sofranko (Jim Thorpe, PA/Marian Catholic). The Lady Colonels are also led by senior
Catey McFadden (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood)'s 9.7 ppg and 8.3 rpg, and sophomore
Gianna Roberts (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke), who is averaging 9.1 ppg and 5.6 rpg this season.
Wilkes is averaging 58.7 ppg as a team while allowing 69.3 ppg.
FDU-Florham, who has won the last five MAC Freedom women's basketball championships, enters Wednesday's game with a 7-4 record after going 2-0 at the Lehman College Tournament last week.
The Devils are led by sophomore Kendrea Williams, who is averaing 25.2 ppg on 46 percent (90-198) shoointg. FDU-Florham is also led by sophomore Gabrielle Harris' 22.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg, and 2.3 apg, and junior Bria Smith, who is averaging 10.5 ppg and 8.9 rpg this season.
The Devils are scoring 80.1 ppg this season while allowing opponents 68.9 ppg.
