FORT WAYNE, IN – The Wilkes University wrestling team fell 32-6 to No. 16 North Central in the opening round before falling 24-17 to University of Chicago in the consolation round Thursday afternoon at the NWCA National Duals. The Colonels finished the tournament with a 24-18 loss to Ohio Northern in a guaranteed third match later in the day.
 
Wilkes stands 6-11 overall following the pair of defeats at the national event.
 
Wilkes scored a win in one bout against North Central as Justin Morel (Corona, NY/Mt. St. Michael Academy) pinned his opponent at 165-pounds in 3:41.
 
The Colonels recorded four wins in the match against Chicago with three coming for extra points. Kyle Trout (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) opened with a 17-4 dominating performance at 125-pounds earning the major decision before a fall from Josh Evans (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) at 149-pounds in 6:02. John Ritter (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) added Wilkes' second major decision win at 174-pounds winning 12-4. Matthew Grossmann (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) was the final Colonel winner scoring a 7-0 decision win at 141-pounds.
