No. 2 Wilkes Women's Soccer Set for MAC Freedom Semifinal Matchup with No. 3 DeSales
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's soccer team has earned the No. 2 seed in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) tournament and will host No. 3 seed DeSales University at Schmidt Stadium on Wednesay, October 31
st at 7:00 p.m.
Ticket prices set by the MAC office are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for students (with ID), and free for children under six years of age.

The Colonels return to the conference tournament for the 11
th time in the past 13 seasons and will look to capture the program's second conference championship, the first since 2005. The semifinal matchup will mark the first time the two teams face each other in postseason play since 2016 when DeSales came to Edwardsville and escaped with a 2-1 overtime victory.
Wilkes has faced DeSales two times aside from 2016 in the MAC Freedom tournament, falling in the championship in 2015 and earning a 2-1 victory in the 2008 semifinals.
The Colonels enter the matchup with an 8-6-2 overall record, 5-2-0 in conference under first-year head coach
John McNichol. Wilkes is led by
Nicolette Towlen (Ewing, NJ/Ewing), who finished the regular season with 15 points on six goals and three assists.
Jessica Egan (West Long Branch, NJ/Shore Regional) was the only other Colonels to reach double-digit points adding five goals for ten points while
Allison Peet (Sayre, PA/Sayre) just missed after netting four goals for eight points.
In goal,
Samantha Cecere (Batavia, NY/Batavia) finished the regular season 5-4-2, making 45 saves for a .789 save percentage and a 1.07 goals against average. Cecere ranks third in the MAC Freedom in GAA and saves, and ranks fifth in shutouts.
DeSales makes its fifth consecutive trip to the MAC Freedom tournament, falling to No. 2 Misericordia a season ago. The Bulldogs finished the regular season with an 8-7-2 overall record, 5-2-0 in MAC Freedom play.
DeSales is led by freshman Natalie Dorsheimer, who finished the season with 15 points on six goals and three assists. Rachel Medlar (12 points, three goals, six assists) and Sam Riccardi (12 points, five goals, two assists) round out the Bulldogs that finished in double figures for points.
Haley Jacobs finished with an 8-5-1 record in net with six shutouts, 57 saves, a 0.695 save percentage, and 1.77 goals against average.
The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to face the victor of the other semifinal matchup between No. 1 Misericordia and No. 4 FDU-Florham.
