Wilkes Men's Tennis Wins 7-2 Against Muhlenberg
ALLENTOWN, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team took all three doubles then four of six singles flights on way to a 7-2 victory over host Muhlenberg College Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes moved its overall dual match record to 3-3 following the win while Muhlenberg dropped to 3-4 on the season.
The Colonels began the match with three doubles wins including two that went to the tie-breaker.
Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus) and
Andrew MacDonald (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Regional) posted an 8-7 (7-5) victory at No. 1 in a back-and-forth match. At No. 2
Braddock Chow (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove) and
Mike Ellis (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) were winners at 8-7 (7-4).
Chris Maderitz (York, PA/Central York) and
Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) scored an 8-4 victory at No. 3 to complete the doubles sweep.
Wilkes then clinched the match with wins at the No. 1 through 4 flights in singles play all in straight set fashion. Murphy, Maderitz, White and
Larry Scartz (Woodbridge, VA/Home School) were the Colonels winners in respective order.
Wilkes returns to action tomorrow (Sunday) with a road trip to Yeshiva University for a dual match starting at 2:00 p.m.
