Wilkes Men's Tennis Makes Quick Work of Misericordia
EDWARDSVILLE, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team dispatched Misericordia 9-0 in a quick match at the Ralston Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
The win improves the Colonels to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom.
The match began with Wilkes sweeping all three doubles points without losing a single game as #2 Chris Maderitz (York, PA/Central York) and Isaac Shenton (Saint Thomas, PA/James Buchanan), #1 Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus) and Andrew MacDonald (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Regional) and #3 Alec Levin (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) and Connor Murphy (Denver, PA/Cocalico ) all won their matches by 8-0 margins.
It was more of the same in singles as #5 Levin, #1 Murphy, #2 Maderitz, #4 MacDonald and #3 Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) each won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Freshman Connor Murphy (Denver, PA/Cocalico ) added to his first doubles win as he also recorded his first collegiate individual win on Wednesday, taking his #6 singles match 6-3, 6-3 to close out the sweep for the navy and gold.
Wilkes returns to action on Saturday, April 13th when it heads to DeSales for a 9:00 a.m. MAC Freedom match before making the short trip to Villanova University to square off against the Division I Wildcats at 3:00 p.m.
