Three Straight Goals-Against Downs Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey
PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – After going up 1-0 in the first period, Elmira College scored three consecutive goals as it handed the Wilkes University men's ice hockey team a 3-2 loss in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action on Saturday evening,
The Colonels fell to 9-2-0 in conference and 13-5-0 overall.
Donald Flynn (Randolph, NJ/) opened the scoring at 3:52 of the first period with assists from Nick Fea (Oak Ridge, NJ/) and Tyson Araujo (Oak Bluffs, MA/).
Elmira tied the score at 19:40 of the first with a power-play tally after Wilkes was called for a cross-checking minor.
The Soaring Eagles took the lead at 13:02 of the second, and took a 3-1 advantage with a second power-play goal at 3:58 of the third.
Fea cut the deficit to 3-2 at 13:46 of the third, but the Colonels were unable to tie the score in the closing minutes.
Michael Paterson-Jones (Baldwinsville, NY) stopped 29 shots while Chris Janzen made 36 saves for Elmira.
The Colonels return to action on Friday when they host Chatham University for a 5:00 p.m. UCHC game.
