Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey Set for UCHC Semifinal Tilt at Stevenson
 
WILKES-BARRE – The No. 3 seed Wilkes University men's ice hockey team is set to face No. 2 seed Stevenson University in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) semifinal at Reisterstown Sportsplex with  puck drop scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Friday.

Wilkes enters the conference semifinal with a 7-3-0 overall record after a 3-2 overtime quarterfinal victory over No. 7 seed Nazareth College on Wednesday night at the Toyota SportsPlex. The Colonels earned the No. 3 seed in the playoffs with a 6-3-0 UCHC regular season record.
 
Tyler Barrow's (Massapequa, NY/Saint Anthony's) overtime winner sent Wilkes past Nazareth and was his second consecutive overtime game-winning goal as he also scored in extra time to defeat Chatham University 4-3 in the regular season finale. Barrow leads the Colonels with 10 goals on the season and is second on the team with 17 points.
 
Donald Flynn (Randolph, NJ) leads Wilkes with 18 points on five goals and 13 assists. Tyler Dill (South Lake Tahoe, CA) has eight goals and eight assists for 16 points, including two goals in the quarterfinal game. He leads the Colonels with a +10 rating. Nick Fea (Oak Ridge, NJ) rounds out a potent Wilkes offense with six goals and eight assists for 14 points.
 
Charlie Spetz (Oak Ridge, NJ) and Michael Gurska (Revere, MA) lead the blue liners for Wilkes with 23 and 21 blocked shots on the season respectively. Spetz has added five assists and Gurska seven.
 
Michael Paterson-Jones (Baldwinsville, NY) is 7-3-0 on the year with a 2.89 goals-against-average and a .904 save percentage. The sophomore goaltender has recorded 273 total saves.
 
Wilkes averages 4.1 goals-per-game while allowing its opponents 3.3 goals-per-game. The Colonels average 36.2 shots-per-game while allowing 31.0. On the power play, Wilkes is 17-for-49 (34.7%) while the Colonels are 40-for-51 (78.4%) on the penalty kill.
 
Stevenson enters with an 11-2-1 overall record after defeating No. 6 seed Neumann University 3-2 in a quarterfinal game Thursday afternoon. The Mustangs earned the conference No. 2 seed with a 7-1-1 record during the regular season.
 
Mac Lowry (9 goals, 7 assists) and Ryan Patrick (4 goals, 12 assists) lead Stevenson with 16 points. Blake Colman and Anthony Starzi are second on the team with five goals and Austin Masters is second on the team with eight assists. Lowry leads the way with a +14 rating while five other players are also +10 or better.
 
Aaron Murray and Colman lead the Mustang defenders and Ryan Kenny is 10-1-1 between the pipes this season with a 2.07 goals-against-average, a .923 save percentage and 299 total saves.

Stevenson is averaging 4.0 goals-per-game while allowing its opponents 2.1 goals-per-game. The Mustangs average 33.4 shots-per-game while allowing 26.0. On the power play, Stevenson is 20-for-77 (26.0%) while the Mustangs are 64-for-72 (88.9%) on the penalty kill.
 
Stevenson won the regular season matchup 3-1 in Reisterstown, Md. On February 26th. Devon Schell (Scarsdale, NY) scored in the first period on a power play for Wilkes before Murray tied the game in the second for Stevenson, also on the power play. Chad Watt then scored with 2:08 remaining in the game on the power play for the game-winner and the Mustangs added an empty-net goal for the final. Each team had 27 shots on goal and 30 face off wins. The victory for Stevenson started a nine-game unbeaten streak that the Mustangs will bring into this contest.
 
The winner will advance to Monday's UCHC Final against the winner of the other semifinal between No. 4 seed Elmira College and No. 1 Seed Utica College.
