No. 3 Wilkes Men's Tennis set to Face No. 1 Stevens in MAC Freedom Final
WILKES-BARRE – The third-seeded Wilkes University men's tennis team is set to travel to top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology for the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Final Saturday at 4:30 p.m. inside the Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, N.J.
Admission to the match is free. Spectators in the viewing area are asked to wear a mask.

The Colonels earned the third seed after going 4-2 in their MAC Freedom matches this season and advanced to the Finals with an epic 5-4 back-and-forth battle Wednesday with second-seeded FDU-Florham that lasted until nearly midnight at St. Elizabeth University. Wilkes now 10-7 overall.
Stevens earned the No. 1 seed with a perfect 6-0 conference record and the Ducks are 12-4 overall following a 5-0 Semifinal win over fourth-seeded DeSales University. Stevens is ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III Regional Rankings for Region III as of May 1st and are tenth in the ITA Atlantic South Regional Rankings as of May 5th.
Stevens, the defending MAC Freedom champion, defeated Wilkes 9-0 on April 9th at the Stevens Tennis Courts in Hoboken, N.J.
In the match, Marc Feliu and Troy Zhang won No. 1 doubles 8-2 over
Cole Gibson (Pinecrest, FL/Miami Palmetto Senior) and
John Toussaint (Dallas, PA/Dallas Senior). At No. 2 doubles Aashi Kulakarni and Sebastian Wroe won 8-0 over
Nick Putney (Norfolk, MA/King Phillip Regional) and
Nathanial Rathe (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Southeast). Mark Pabalan and Eloi Pradier won 8-3 over
Donovan Zong (Bethlehem, PA/Salisbury Township) and
Connor Frey (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, Vivek Harinarayan won 8-1 over Gibson in the top billing and Feliu won 8-4 over Toussaint at No. 2. Philip Szkudlarski took an 8-1 win over
Rodniel Senson (Houston, TX/William B. Travis) at No. 3 and Andrew He beat Putney 8-0 in the four spot. Pradier won 8-1 over Rathe at No. 5 and Olof Persson won 6-4, 6-3 over
Jacob Bosler (Elkton, MD/Elkton) at No. 6.
Stevens leads the series 4-0 dating back to 2012. This year Wilkes has a combined 55-67 singles record and a 28-29 doubles record. The Ducks have combined to have a 98-35 singles record and a 52-15 doubles record.
The winner of the 2022 MAC Freedom Men's Tennis Team Championship will receive an NCAA automatic berth to the Division III Tournament, something the Colonels had done for 12 consecutive seasons until Stevens won the team title last year.
