Wilkes Men's Tennis Completes Action at the 2022 MAC Individual Championship

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team completed action at the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Individual Championship on Saturday at the Kirby Park and Ralston Athletic Complex courts.

Doubles Results

Drew Fiedler (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) won his first round No. 4 singles match over Jakob Stubits of Hood College to advance to the quarterfinals in his respective bracket. Fiedler took the match in straight-set fashion 6-3, 6-4. Second seeded Brendan Byler of Lebanon Valley College then ended Fiedler's run to advance to the semifinals.

The rest of the Colonels singles competitors were unable to win their first match of the day. At No. 1 John Toussaint (Dallas, PA/Dallas Senior) dropped his match 6-2, 6-2 to top-seeded Andrew He of Stevens Institute of Technology. Following a tough No. 1 doubles match, Nathanial Rathe (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Southeast) did not compete in his first round singles match at the No. 2 slot.

FDU-Florham's Matt Emory defeated Connor Frey (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) at No. 3 singles and Lance Fries of York (Pa.) won at No. 5 singles in Amin Ali's (Jenkins Twp., PA/Wyoming Seminary) debut singles match for Wilkes. Dominic Tyner (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) also competed in his first singles match for the Colonels, dropping his No. 6 first round match to Garrett Warren of Stevenson University. Ian Williams (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) received a bye into the No. 7 singles quarterfinals where he lost to Nathan Davidson of Stevenson.

Toussaint and Rathe battled with third seeded Chase Wilson and Connor Rose at No. 1 doubles to open the morning but were unable to advance to the quarterfinals as the Messiah University duo took the tightly contested match 8-7 (3).

Frey and Amin lost to second-seeded Jeff Bauer and Byler of Lebanon Valley at No. 2 doubles in the first round. At No. 3 doubles Tyner and Fiedler dropped an 8-5 match to Arcadia University's David Cassel and Ryan Salmon.

The 2022 MAC Individual Championship concludes with the semifinals and finals of singles and doubles at 8:00 a.m. Sunday with the threat of rain in the forecast.
