Wilkes Basketball Continues MAC Freedom Road Competition Against Arcadia

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams continue their road stretch in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action as they head to Alumni Gymnasium to compete against Arcadia University this Saturday. The women's game starts off at 1:00 p.m. with the men following suit at 3:00 p.m.

Women's Preview:
Wilkes comes into the game with a 3-10 record on the season, holding a 2-2 conference record in the MAC Freedom this season. The Colonels fell in their last matchup to Stevens Institiute of Technology 66-39 this past Wednesday.
 
Yamirelis Matos (Springfield, MA/Chicopee) leads the Colonels in scoring with 10.2 points-per-game (ppg) which is 14th in the MAC Freedom. Brenna Babcock (Sweet Valley, PA/Northwest Area) is second on the team with 6.6 ppg and Brianna Horton (Verona, NJ/Verona) is third with 5.3 ppg.
 
Matos leads Wilkes with 4.9 rebounds-per-game (rpg). Babcock is second with 4.4 rpg while Horton is third with 4.3. Julia Marino (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) is tied for third in the MAC Freedom with 3.0 assists-per-game (apg), totaling 37 on the season.
 
Marino leads Wilkes with 29 steals, placing eighth in the conference with 2.2 steals-per-game (spg). Matos follows behind with 27 steals and is 10th in the MAC Freedom with 2.1 spg. Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) is tied for seventh in the league with 1.2 blocks-per-game (bpg) with 15 total blocks this season. Horton is tied for 10th in the league with 16 made threes.
 
Wilkes is seventh in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense at 51.3 ppg and fifth in scoring defense at 58.8 ppg.
 
Arcadia is 9-4 on the season 3-2 in the MAC Freedom. Arcadia is 4-1 at home this season. In the Knights last game, they would drop their road matchup to Misericordia University 56-53.
 
Hanna Rhoades leads Arcadia with 14.2 ppg, placing her fourth in the conference. Scarlett Glasser-Nehis is second on the team and 12th in the MAC Freedom with 10.4 ppg. Mars Weaver and Dayna Balasa are third and fourth on the team in scoring with 9.1 and 9.0 ppg respectively.
 
Delaney Bell is second in the conference with 9.1 rpg with Weaver having 6.8 and Glasser-Nehls at 4.2 from the glass. Bell is tied for third in the conference with 2.8 apg.
 
Weaver is tied for fourth in the MAC Freedom with 1.4 bpg, while Abby Beam leads the team with 1.6 spg. Glasser-Nehls leads the conference with a .447 three-point percentage while being third with a .490 field goal percentage.

Arcadia is fifth the in MAC Freedom in scoring offense with 58.1 ppg and second in scoring defense at 49.9 ppg.
 
Wilkes leads Arcadia 2-1 during the live stats era. Wilkes won at Arcadia last season 70-55 while the Knights had a rally to pass Wilkes 68-62 inside the Marts Center.
 
Men's Preview:
Wilkes comes into the contest with a 7-6 overall record and 2-2 in MAC Freedom play. Wilkes also enters the game going 2-4 on the road this season. The Colonels fell short to Stevens 69-64 on the road last Wednesday.
 
Drake Marshall (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) leads the Colonels in scoring to start the year with 14.4 points-per-game (ppg) which is good for sixth in the MAC Freedom. Trent Fisher (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge), who has not played since December 7th, is averaging 11.2 ppg and Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) is scoring 10.0 ppg. Jack Argento (Hershey, PA/Hershey) and Joey Zvorsky (New Cumberland, PA/Cedar Cliff) round out the Colonels scorers with 7.5 and 7.3 respectively.
 
Fisher is eighth in the conference with 6.6 rebounds-per-game (rpg) as he leads the Colonels. Marshall follows with 6.1 rpg which is 11th in the league. Merrifield is tied for fourth in the conference with 3.4 apg while Zvorsky is tied for 11th with 2.8 apg.
 
Matthew Davidheiser (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) is currently the conference leader in three-point field goal percentage as he is shooting .475 (19-40). Merrifield is fifth in the statistic at .403 (25-for-62) with his 25 made three-pointers good to tie for fifth in the MAC Freedom. Fisher is third in the conference with a .611 field goal percentage and ninth with 1.1 bpg. Merrifield is tied for sixth in the conference with 1.4 spg while Zvorsky is tied for 10th with 1.3 spg. Marshall is currently fourth with a .833 (20-for-24) free throw percentage.
 
Wilkes is fourth in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense with 70.2 ppg while ranking first in scoring defense at 59.4 ppg which ranks 27th overall out of 413 Division III teams currently.
 
Arcadia enters with a 5-7 overall record this season and the Bulldogs are 1-4 at home. The Knight won their conference matchup this past Wednesday as they rolled over Misercordia 78-61.
 
Jalen Watkins leads Arcadia and the MAC Freedom with 16.9 ppg and 11.7 rpg. Nas Johnson is second on the team with 14.5 ppg. Justin Money averages 13.7 ppg while Dom Vazquez is fourth with 13.3.
 
Vasquez is second in the conference as he averages 3.8 apg as he has 45 assists on the season. Watkins ties for fourth in the MAC Freedom with 1.3 bpg. Darius Isaac leads the team with 1.2 spg with fellow teammate Dom Vazquez follows behind with 1.1 spg.
 
Watkins ranks fourth in the conference with a .593 field goal percentage. Money leads the team with a .339 three-point percentage as he is 20-for-59 on the year. Isaac ranks third in free throw percentage with .870 as he is 20-for-23 on the season..
 
Arcadia is seventh in the MAC Freedom scoring 64.8 ppg and is tied for third in scoring defense with 65.2 ppg.
 
The Knights lead the series 3-1 in the past two seasons, which include two victories last season for Arcadia.
