LOUISVILLE, KY – Wilkes University softball sophomore Nicole Howell (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock Area) was named to the 2023 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region Team as announced by the organization today. Howell was selected to the Region IV Third Team as an outfielder.

Howell was named Honorable Mention All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom in the outfield. She led the Colonels with a .387 batting average as she started all 36 games this season. Howell also led Wilkes with 43 hits, three triples, 28 RBI's, a .523 slugging percentage, 111 at-bats, and 58 total bases. She had nine doubles, 26 runs scored, and a .410 on-base percentage.

Howell is the first NFCA All-Region selection for the Wilkes softball program since the 2019 season and 26th overall since 1998.

The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of the three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region. A total of 373 student-athletes from 174 schools comprised the 2023 NFCA Division III All-Regions Teams.
