No. 20 Wilkes Wrestling Upended at TCNJ in Season Opening Dual Match
EWING, NJ – The No. 20 Wilkes University men's wrestling team took to the road for its first dual match of the season falling 41-9 to host The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Friday night in Packer Hall.
TCNJ raced out to a 19-0 lead with three extra-point victories in the matches first four bouts.
Jaryn Hartranft (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) earned the Colonels first points of the night when he posted a 3-1 decision win at 157-pounds, his first of the season.
Four more extra-point wins from TCNJ pushed the lead out to 41-3 clinching the match before
Caleb Burkhart (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) finished things off with a fall in :56 at heavyweight.
Wilkes is right back on the mat tomorrow (Saturday) when the Colonels host a quad match inside the Marts Center. Wilkes will open with a dual against Keystone College before matches with Elmira College and New Jersey City University to finish the day. First round wrestling begins at 4:00 p.m.
