Straup Named Landmark Offensive Athlete of the Week
TOWSON, Md. – Wilkes University women's soccer first year
Sarah Straup (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) has been named Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.
This is Straup's first career Athlete of the Week award.
The Pennsburg, Pa. native was the driving force in a crucial win at Moravian on Saturday, scoring a brace and assisting on the game-winning goal by
Grace Alderson (Byram, NJ/Lenape Valley Regional).
Down 2-0, Straup put Wilkes on the board in the 34
th minute and leveled the game with 20 minutes left to play. Five minutes later, she assisted Alderson's deciding strike to help the Colonels earn three points on the day.
Straup leads the Colonels with eight goals on the year, placing her tied for third in the Landmark Conference. Her three assists put her in a three-way tie for second on the team.
The Colonels close out the regular season Tuesday, October 28 as they host Lycoming College at Bruggeworth Field. Kick off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
