Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Ranked Fourteenth, Men Receiving Votes in Latest USCHO.com Poll
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team improved to fourteenth in the latest USCHO.com Division III Poll while the men's ice hockey team are receiving votes, as announced by the organization Monday afternoon.
The women's team broke into the rankings after defeating the previously No. 14 ranked team SUNY Cortland 3-2. Down 2-1 entering the third period, goals by
Nina Hudakova (Košice, Slovakia/Hoosac Prep School) and
Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON/) lifted the Colonels to the season-opening victory. Goaltender
Audrey Milne (London, ON) also recorded her 1,000
th career save in that game, the third goaltender in Wilkes history to reach that mark.
The men are receiving votes for the first time this season after defeating Manhattanville 4-1 in their season-opening game and taking No. 3 ranked SUNY Geneseo to the limit, tying the Knights but falling in the shootout.
Cam Lowe (Lancaster, MA/) led the team with two goals in both games, including the goal that sparked the team's comeback against Geneseo.
Patrick Roginski (Shelby Twp., MI/) finished the weekend with one goal and three assists, including an assist on
Carter Jordan's (Fort Collins, CO/) goal that forced overtime Saturday night.
Duncan Rolleman (New Hamburg, ON/) held strong in net, making 64 saves across two games with a .955 save percentage.
The Colonels return to the ice on Friday, November 7 as they open Middle Atlantic Conference play against cross-town rival King's College. The men host King's at 4:50 p.m. at the Toyota SportsPlex, while the women are on the road at 7:00 p.m.
