Wilkes Men's Tennis Competes at Day One of Ranger Invitational Doubles Tournament
MADISON, N.J. – The Wilkes University men's tennis team competed at day one of the Ranger Invitational Doubles Tournament hosted by Drew University Saturday, fielding three teams.
Donovan Zong (Bethlehem, PA/Salisbury Township) and
Jonah Nguyen (Enola, PA/East Pennsboro Area) were Wilkes' most successful duo, going 3-0 on the day. They defeated Cameron Longa and Pharell Longenbach of Drew University 6-4 to open the day and picked up another victory over Rowan South Jersey's Steven Bonilla and Jackson Huhn 6-2. The duo closed their day with a win over another duo from Rowan 6-4.
Otarhe Okoh (Shakopee, MN/Shakopee) and
Cole Riley (Louisville, KY/Xavier) were also victorious for Wilkes, picking up one win over Kelvin Liwag and Nick Weglinski from FDU-Florham 6-2.
Nathanial Rathe (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Southeast) and
Sean Relak (Hamilton, New Jersey/Hamilton West) also picked up one win on the day 6-4 over a pair from Rowan, Relak's first career victory.
The teams will be back in action tomorrow for the knockout portion of the tournament, starting in the Round of 16. All three Colonel teams are slated to compete.
