WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes men's volleyball graduate assistant Jackson Shafer (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) has been named Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.

This is Shafer's first recognition as player of the week, and the first for the team since joining the conference this season.

The outside hitter helped the Colonels to a 2-1 record, hitting .357 and totaling 44 kills, 23 digs, five aces and four blocks for a total of 52.5 points, with wins over Bard and Mount Aloysius. Against the Mounties, Shafer became the first Colonel to eclipse 1,000 career kills.

Shafer reached double-digit kills in all three games with two double-doubles in the team's tri-match Saturday, recording 10 digs in both victories.

Shafer and the Colonels will be back in action on Tuesday, February 25 as they travel to face Widener University at 7:00 p.m.
