Wilkes Men's Tennis Falls in Season Finale at Juniata 5-2
HUNTINGDON, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team saw its season come to an end following a 5-2 Landmark Conference defeat at Juniata College Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes concluded the season with a 6-9 overall record and 3-6 in Landmark play finishing just outside the postseason in seventh place. Juniata improved to 5-6 overall and 4-5 in league matches clinching the final spot in the upcoming Landmark postseason tournament.
Juniata took two of three doubles flights on way to the team point.
Nathanial Rathe (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Southeast) and
Connor Frey (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) were the lone doubles winner for Wilkes posting a 7-6 (7-3) victory at No. 2 pairs.
Otarhe Okoh (Shakopee, MN/Shakopee) and Frey both captured singles wins for the Colonels. Okoh won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 and Frey was a 6-3, 6-7 (7-4), 10-6 winner at No. 4.
