WILKES-BARRE – With the 2024-25 athletic year coming to an end last weekend, the Wilkes University athletics department had time to celebrate its work both in the classroom and in the community.
 
In the classroom, the whole department (23 athletic programs) finished with a 3.22 grade point average (GPA). Men's Ice Hockey finished with the top team GPA at 3.595 with women's soccer following with a 3.563. In total, 18 of the 23 athletic programs posted at least a 3.0 GPA during the 2024-25 academic year.
 
In the community, Wilkes student-athletes totaled 5,587 hours of community service in 2024-25, increasing its hours by 2,237 from the prior 2023-24 school year. On the men's side, football led the way with 1,112 total hours, while on the women's side soccer topped the list with 408.5 total hours.
