Wilkes Men's Tennis Completes Play at King's Invitational
EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes men's tennis team saw two doubles and two singles finalists as the team completed day two at the King's Invitational held at the Ralston Athletic Complex and Kirby Park Courts Sunday afternoon.
In No. 1 doubles play, the Colonel duo of
Cole Riley (Louisville, KY/Xavier) and
Sebastian Sylvester (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago/The College of Lady Fatima) fell to Muhlenberg 6-1, while the team of
Otarhe Okoh (Shakopee, MN/Shakopee) and
Landon Gleichauf (Naples, NY/Naples) also fell to the Mules in No. 2 action 7-6 (7-4).
Sylvester was one of two Colonels to reach the finals in singles action, defeating Eastern in the third flight semifinal 6-4, 6-0 before falling to Muhlenberg in the final 6-3, 6-1.
Luke Meissner (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) also reached the final in flight seven, defeating Misericordia 6-4, 6-4 before falling to the Mules once more in the final 6-0, 6-2.
Riley (No. 1),
Xavier Bleiler (Mountain Top, PA/MMI Prep) (No. 2), Okoh (No. 4), and Gleichauf (No. 5) were all bested in their semifinal matchups, defeated by Elizabethtown, Lebanon Valley (Bleiler and Okoh), and Muhlenberg respectively.
The Colonels return to the court Sunday, September 28 as they host Elizabethtown College at home for their first Landmark Conference contest of the year at 2:00 p.m.
