TOWSON, Md. – Wilkes softball junior Mia Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) has been selected as the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

This is Butka's first weekly award of the season and first of her career. Wilkes Softball has started the year with two consecutive Pitcher of the Week awards, after Audrey Rinda (Easton, PA/Easton Area) was chosen as last week's recipient.

Butka pitched 12 shutout innings in two starts over spring break, striking out nine as the Colonels defeated Saint Elizabeth University and Waynesburg University.

The Scranton, Pa. native struck out four against the Eagles in an 8-0 victory and added five more K's in a 5-0 win over the Yellow Jackets. In three total outings in Myrtle Beach, Butka struck out 13 batters and allowed zero runs.

The Colonels return to action on Thursday, March 19^th as they host their first doubleheader of the year against Immaculata University. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
