No. 5 Wilkes Softball set for Landmark Conference First Round at No. 4 Susquehanna Tuesday
 
WILKES-BARRE – The No. 5 seed Wilkes University softball team is set for the Landmark Conference First Round game at No. 4 seed Susquehanna River Hawks Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Selinsgrove, Pa.

Wilkes enters the postseason tournament for the second time in the Landmark Conference after earning the fourth seed in 2025. The Colonels posted a 21-17 overall record and an even 8-8 in Landmark play on way to the fifth seed after a three-way tie with Drew University and Susquehanna where the Colonels finished 1-3 against the pair.
 
Mia Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) leads the Colonels offense batting .360 with a team-high 41 hits including nine doubles, two triples and five home runs. Butka has batted in a team-best 30 RBIs while boasting a .605 slugging percentage. Talia Piragas (Old Forge, PA/Old Forge) follows batting .342 with 39 hits, six doubles and 17 RBIs. Hana Cross (Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) tops the team with 27 runs scored while batting .340 with seven doubles and a team-high six home runs.
 
In the circle, Lauren DeMarco (Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun) owns an 8-7 record with 12 complete games and 95 innings pitched. DeMarco posts a 2.21 earned run average with a team-high 62 strikeouts ranking sixth in the Landmark. Butka is 6-3 in the circle with five complete games and 69.1 innings pitched. She has fanned 36 batters while owning a 2.63 ERA in 17 appearances.
 
Susquehanna enters the tournament with a 14-23 overall record standing 8-8 in league play. The River Hawks earned the fourth seed by way of the three-way tiebreaker with Wilkes and Drew finishing 2-2 against the pair.
 
At the plate, Stevie Shaak leads the River Hawks offense batting .371 with 36 hits including seven doubles, three triples and 22 RBIs. Brianna Jones follows batting .362 with 25 hits including four doubles, three triples and 12 RBIs. Katelyn Dugery bats .316 with seven doubles and a team-best four home runs.
 
Jones is also the ace in the circle for Susquehanna boasting a 7-2 record with a 1.51 ERA in 74 innings pitched. She has struck out 71 batters while allowing just a .226 opponent batting average against her. Piper Wright stands 3-6 overall with a 6.72 ERA in 58.1 innings pitched.
 
Wilkes and Susquehanna split the season series with the games being played last weekend at the Ralston Athletic Complex. Susquehanna won game one 5-2 while Wilkes claimed game two 6-5.
 
Both teams will move on to the Landmark Conference Tournament starting Friday at No. 1 seed Moravian University. The double elimination tournament schedule can be found below.
