The Colonels competed in their first dual meet of the season when they took on King's College in a 3k race on Monday in Kirby Park.
Mike Griesemer was the top finisher for the Colonels with the time of 10:57, which was 46 seconds behind Kings' Brandon Sweeney, the winner on the afternoon.
Phat Nguyen (Hanover Township, Pa./Bishop Hoban) crossed the line at 11:10 to give him seventh place, while
Tom Larrabee (Wyalusing, Pa./Wyalusing) finished eighth overall with the time of 11:17. Alex Caicedo's time of 11:40 and
Anthony Griseto (Forty Fort/Wyoming Valley West)'s 11:40 rounded out Wilkes' top five finishers in the race.
The Lady Colonels had five runners compete in the race, while King's women did not participate. Wilkes'
Michelle Wakeley (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) crossed the line first at 11:41 to continue her stellar freshman campaign.
Amelia Farnham (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) finished second with a time of 12:08, while
Christina Yesu (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) posted a time of 13:43. Finishing fourth and fifth were
Brittany Maloney (Stockholm, N.J./Vernon Township) and
Emily Klinetob (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus), who finished with times of 15:43 and 15:48, respectively.
The cross country team returns to action on October 25 when they travel to Lancaster to compete in the Battle for the Buggy race.
